DIY lotion bars

Up until recently I didn't realize that you could have body lotion in the form of a bar, similar to that of a soap bar, much less that it was so easy to make yourself. What you basically need to make such a lotion bar are equal parts of beeswax, body butter (shea butter, cocoa butter or mango butter) and oil (any kind you decide to use- I usually like to use sweet almond oil, coconut oil or olive oil). You can also add vitamin E and an essential oil of you choice at the end of the preparation process. I would recommend starting out with 1/3 cup of each ingredient which will make about 3 small or 2 larger lotion bars. What you will need to prepare this lotion bars is a double boiler, or just use put a glass jar in a pot full of water and heat up the water. You'll need to mix all the ingredients except the vitamin E and essential oils and wait till they melt and combine together. Next take the combined ingredients off the heat, wait till they cool down a bit and add the vitamin E (about 10 drops for this amount of butter, oil and beeswax) and several drops of essential oil if you would like to have scented lotion bars. Mix everything well and next pour out to forms of your choice. I usually use cupcake or cookie forms to get all sorts of unique shapes and sizes. You can also make it in a square baking pan and after it dries cut it into actual squares. The lotion bars can be stored up to many months since they do not contain any water. It's best to wrap them in foil while stored. I also like to store them in small tin containers, I think this way they look very fancy. Let me know of your experiences if you decide to make lotion bars. I find them great for extra dry areas of my skin.

Vanilla scented Cocoa-Coconut Lotion Bar
My favorite combination is a cocoa-coconut lotion bar with vanilla essential oil. To make this bar you need one part organic beeswax, one part extra virgin coconut oil, and one part organic cocoa butter. Additionally you can add several drops of vitamin E and a few drops of vanilla essential oil.
