Rose water in face care

If I can find a product with multiple uses in my skin care routine I am more than happy. Rose water is one of these products which I really like because I can use it in its pure form as a face toner, makeup remover and an additive to my face creams. I love the smell of rose water, but mostly I love its properties (do not make the mistake of underestimating rose water and believing that it is used in cosmetic products only for its beautiful scent). Rose water has mild astringent properties and it is known to balance the skins oil production. It also helps to reduce redness on the skin. Rose water is rich in vitamins, especially vitamin A and C. It has hydrating and moisturizing properties when applied to the skin.

My favorite way to use rose water is as a face toner. I apply it to my face using a cotton ball several times during the day. It makes my face feel refreshed and hydrated. Optionally you can mix rose water with a small amount of glycerin and witch hazel hydrosol (for 1/2 cup rose water use 1/4 witch hazel and 4 drops glycerin).

Rose water can also be used as gentle makeup remover (especially great for removing makeup from sensitive places areas like your eyes), face cleaner (when mixed with rose essential oil and glycerin), face mist which can also be used as a makeup setting spray, and as an additive to creams and lotions.

When purchasing rose water read the label and make sure you are buying 100% pure rose water without the addition of preservatives and ethanol.

  1. I've been using it as a face mist for some time, but now I'll definitely try it as a make remover, because my eyes are in fact SUPER sensitive:-( Thank you for yet another very helpful post, Anna!
