White willow bark and witch hazel face toner

I have wanted to try using white willow bark in my cosmetics for a very long time. As you might already know it is a natural source of salicylic acid and is an often ingredient in anti acne face care products. After reading a recent post about white willow bark face toner on a blog that I follow (this is the original post: http://www.humblebeeandme.com/white-willow-bark-anti-acne-toner/) I ordered white willow bark and inspired by this recipe made my own only two ingredient face toner (three ingredient if you count the distilled water!).

What you will need:

3 tbsp distilled witch hazel

2 tbsp white willow bark

150 mL distilled water

To prepare the face toner first let the witch hazel steep for 10-15 minutes. Cool it down, filtrate it and add witch hazel to the white willow bark "tea". Mix everything well and apply to face with a cotton ball.

Great for refreshing your face and preventing breakouts. It has a slight herbal smell, which personally I like, but if you are not a fan of the scent you can add essential oils like in the original post (you will then have to add a solubilizer as well to prevent the essential oils from separating from the water phase).
