For those with sensitive skin most face scrubs are too harsh to use. After some experimenting I've come to the conclusion that for my face corn flower (also known as corn starch) seams to be just the right exfoliating ingredient as it does the job well, but the grains are small enough that it does not scratch my skin leaving it red and sensitive. I've come up with the following mask, which can be applied to the face for 5-10 minutes (not too long so that it does not dry completely) and then while washing it off use circular motions so that you can exfoliate the skin:
- 1 egg white
- 1 tsp raw honey
- 1/2 tsp evening primrose oil
- corn flower (enough to make a thick paste)
Apply this mask and face scrub every few days, but be sure not to scrub your face too intensively or too often.
Corn flower is mostly used in cosmetics for its moisture absorbing and exfoliating properties. Besides corn flower there are many other corn derived ingredients used in cosmetics such as zea mays (corn) germ oil, corn extract, corn silk extract, corn acid, hydrolyzed corn starch, corn glycerides and others. These corn derived ingredients are used in the formulation of skin care, hair care, make up, lipsticks bath products and others.
